Help - please! I suddenly have a login screen in xp that i did not askfor!

Iwas chaging my Internet sharing settings for my 360and now after a restartXP presents me with an NT style log in screen - a user name filled in and I have no recolection of the password. I have tried every one it could be and have had no luck. Please - any ideas.....

Might sound stupid, but have you tried leaving the Password field blank? There won't be a password as such if you haven't actually made one.

Has the log-in screen appeared because you've installed microsoft .NET (or something that requires .NET)? If that's the case then delete the ASP.NET profile in control panel->user accounts.

I get that logon screen now as well. It appeared after I installed drivers for a wireless router.

or just turn on the welcome screen again surely?
same place Mud mentioned and choose "Change the way users log on or off" and turn on 'use the welcome screen'.

                sorted
