    Multimonitor help

So, I just got myself a second monitor, and I was trying to setup my computer to handle two monitors. I was successful in setting up each monitor with its own resolution and refresh (1680x1050@60hz and 1280x1024@85hz, they are an 16:9 LCD and a 4:3 CRT), but I was wondering if it was possible to give each monitor its own wallpaper.
I've tried from Windows XP properties and from the Catalyst Control Center (the video card is a Radeon 9800XT, driver version 6.9), but with no success. I then downloaded Hydravision, Ati program for multimonitor environments, but I found it extremely buggy and 80% of the times I try to apply or remove changes the program freezes: for the specs sheet Hydravision should be able to do what I want by creating a virtual desktop, but the few times I get the program to work, I'm not able to do anything.
Can someone point out how to do it, being it with Windows, Ati video drivers, Hydravision or any other program?

Paste two wallpapers side by side and make sure you have split desktop on.

There are some pre made ones here

[speechless, staring at the monitor with eyes wide open]

Oh well, that's absolutely brilliant. No really, I never thought about it. Will try this evening.

Uhmmm...no. The same solution was suggested by someone else on a newsgroup but what I get is the whole wallpaper reduced to fit into the monitors, not the wallpaper stretched between the two. I'll fiddle with the drivers and Win's desktop options in these holidays, it's not that I'm going to die for not having two wallpapers. Thanks anyway.

i take it you set position to tile and also set the secondary monitor to the right of the main one?

              Don't select stretch!

Sorry for the thread bump, but I was able to overcome the problem. I have the second monitor on the left side of the primary screen, while Windows has it on the right as standard configuration. The first step was to move the secondary monitor on the left in display properties, but the problem wasn't with the wallpaper positioning/tiling, but with Windows itself...don't know why, but I have to paste the secondary wallpaper on the right even if the monitor is correctly positioned to the left. Oh well, the mysteries of MS software.
