    Wii problem - possibly cable.

    Hey,

so I have my wii plugged into a joytech AV box, with a geniune Nintendo Componant cable,

BUT, for some reason when I click on to Wii shop the picture goes flickery, to the point where the TV loses signal, if I press Home to bring the menu up it stops flickering straight away.

It also flickers on the Mii channel but only very occaisionally ?!?!?

I have tried all cables, making sure they are in, but I cannot work out why generally the picture is fine, but then goes haywire.

    Any ideas?????

    Cheers.

Are you using the PAL version of the Wii?

yes Pal version of Wii, I think the cable is Japanese, although I assume a cable is a cable which ever market its for.

Yeah, the cables aren't region specific. It seems that some PAL Wiis have some video output issues.

NTSC users as of yet haven't reported any of this so I'm guessing it's something to do with what video scan-rate the console is picking (50/60hz) and the code it's using to do it...

            ok, update,

I have put up with the flickering as it didn't effect any games,

BUT, last night playing Zelda, I went into 1st person view and looked at the bright sky and it started flickering, if I looked down it stopped !?!?!?!?!?!?!
Looking back up it started again, etc etc.

So, any ideas if it is something to do with very white and bright images, as the wii shop screen where I also have this problem is pretty much a white screen.

            Thanks.

Are you able to recreate the problem in Zelda at any time, if so I suggest putting the composite cable back and trying again.

Also, I'm suspecting it is something to do with the Joytech AV box - try removing this from the equation.

Oh dear, this sounds like something is seriously wrong with either the TV (what kind is it?), the Wii's video output, or as Pete said, the splitter box.

The Tv is a samsung LCD,
was hoping to avoid plugging wii directly into TV because its gonna take ages getting the wires out of the box and rerouting to the TV, but if thats what I have to do !!!!!!

It's not really related, but my brother-in-law's lcd does the same 'too much white on the screen freak out' thing. He only gets it from one particular input though. Turned out to be the cable in that case

I think this is exactly the problem,
anyone have any ideas to solve it,

is it the TV or the cable?????

I've only experianced it with the Wii, as it has very white menus on the shop channel.

The only way to find out is to plug the whole thing into another TV.

ok, Joytech say they have had reported cases of the AV unit not working with the Nintendo Wii,

they have not been able to test it themselves as they have no Wii !!!!!!

This should be sorted out on Monday when an employee is bringing theirs in.

UPDATE, no responce from JOYTECH, other than to ask what make TV I have etc, but have taken this video to show what happens,

360 and PS2 work fine, but Wii on the Mii and shop channels starts flickering.
