Wii Classic Controller

Guys,

So far with my wii ive got 2 wiimotes +nunchucks

a wavebird, standard GC pad and a classic controller

Can the wavebird be used on all VC games or do i need the classic for some of them?!?! and vice versa can the classic be used as a GC controller?

All VC games thus far can be played on the Wavebird, but are optomised for the Classic Controller.

You cannot use the Classic Controller for GC games, unfortunately.

Yeah you can use the Wavebird on all the VC games. You can't use a classic controller for GC games though.

I actually find the Wavebird less effective for titles like Mario64 which are Classic Controller-optomised, fyi.

Plus the D-Pad on the Wavebird (well, all GC pads) is terrible, the one on the Classic Controller is far superior.

This table is from the wii site. The little broken egg type icon indicates that the controller 'works with some'.

Not true. You HAVE to use the classic controller for Donkey Kong Country

No you dont. Im playing DK Country with my WaveBird

You can use a GC pad for DKC, but the buttons are configured poorly.

That's a bummer about the classic controller not working on Game Cube games. There I was going to pick up Bio Hazard 4 this weekend as well. Now I'll have to get a bloody controller to go with it. I wouldn't mind but the cube controllers are horrid!

To gain perfect backwards compatibility, Wii basically shuts down all unrequired resources. You can't even access firmware when console is in Cube mode.

I was thinking the same, in fact to be honest they've just lost some money from me. I'd sold my cube a long time ago but was thinking about buying some games I'd missed, but I'm not buying ANOTHER pad as well, when I've already bought the classic controller, which has everything it needs on it
