So, is it ?45 a controller, then?

I'm intent on getting a Wii in the next month-or-so. I've been watching videos, adverts and reading here and it seems whenever a second person is playing they're using the Wiimote and the Nunchuck as well.

I want to get a Wii, Zelda, Wario and a controller so my buddy can play too, so am I going to have to shell out £45 for both the Wiimote and the Nunchuck?

Seems a bit cheeky if so, especially with the Classic Controller going at another £15.

Wario only needs the wiimote I think, so you can get get the nun-chuck later on.

I am sure I saw a site where each piece was about £4 cheaper, but I can't remember which one that was.

Yeah theres one multiplayer game where one of you has the remote and the other uses the nunchuck but like stormbreak said you should'nt have to buy another remote or nunchuck to play it multiplayer.

Buy Wii play with the controller and sell the game on ebay. I got £23 for the game alone, so effectively the remote cost me £12.

You could buy both on PLay Asia for under £40 delivered and that's the first site I looked. The accessories aren't region locked or anything so import away!

Today I saw a standalone Wii remote, with no nunchuck, selling for £45. Worse still: they were trying to sell a single nunchuck unit for £35. Eighty quid for one whole controller? That is madness. I hope that was a one-off scam, and not indicative of prices elsewhere...

This is a massive bump by Nintendo, the Nunchuck not being included with the controller is robbery.

Are the prices in those links really the uk RRP??

                  If so thats totally disgusting.

The nunchuk in japan retails for 1800 yen (approx ?7.75)
                  & the remote is 3800 (approx ?16.36)

This is not Japan though. There are lots of things you have to consider like tax and also the cost to ship the units from Japan (or China, wherever they are made) to the UK. ?30 for a Wiimote is expensive compared to Japan and the US but then again everything is, just import one if you really have a problem

I mentioned this in the main Wii thread. The console is cheap and comes with Wii Sports, but by the time you get properly setup for multiplayer stuff, its not looking so cheap, is it? Low stock levels have helped deflect from this a bit as I ended up buying a nunchuk one day, Wii Play another, so I wasn't hit with one big bill in one shop.

Dont worry thats exactly what i did, uk prices are a ****ing rip.

My japanese wii cost ?120 & the rest of the stuff i got, i paid japanese retail prices. Even with postage & import tax i still paid a whole lot less than the uk RRP.

Well, both official Playstation 3 controller and X360's wireless controller cost 50 dollars, and Wiimote + nunchuk combo 60 dollars. If analyses I have seen are right, PS3 controller only costs 75 cents to manufacture, and wiimote / nunchuk combo costs close to 30 dollars. It's shouldn't be big surprise that there is slight price difference. But yeah, of course it is ****ing shame that local distributors are pumping prices up.

you'd be annoyed if you just wanted a remote, and had to buy it together with a nunchuck.

                            nintendo can't win

Yeah. And Nintendo said that they are considering packing nunchuk with Wiimote, if nunchuk / wiimote attach ratio will be around 90 percent (which won't happen for long time).
