No colour on my US Wii on my 28" widescreen Toshiba telly

    Help me please!

I'm dying to play on Zelda on my US Wii (of which I got today), on my standard 28" widescreen Toshiba telly but even thru compo****e I can only get a black and white signal.

Can anyone help me out before I go crazy!

Did you US/JPN cube work ok?

The Cube used a less common variation of NTSC (ntsc 3.58) which some TVs don't accept or you have to change within a menu of the TV itself. I assume the Wii is he same.

    RGB cable doing the same?

Exactly, modded scart, the NTSC Wiis don't output RGB, you'll need to use S-Video, Component or a newer TV.

Your TV doesn't do NTSC, simple as =(

Your TV doesn't support NTSC. I'm pretty sure RGB cables don't work on US Wii's so you're pretty much screwed unless someone can make a modded SCART

Phil can't you just get it hooked up to your swanky monitor instead.

Failing that, i have a ye olde ntsc to pal converter box you can try. It will turn the signal colour but the picture will be pretty crappy. About the same as compo****e.

Your TV won't do NTSC over composite, but does do so over RGB. This was common for TVs 5-10 years ago. I had one that was just the same.

A PAL-NTSC converter will give a really shocking picture. But give one a try, they aren't pricey.

You can get component to RBG scart boxes -at least I think you can. Short of getting a new telly, that a component to RBG scart box would be your best bet.

I'm using a Keene RGB2C box to get RGB out of my US Wii, and it works very well. Looks great, and there's no lag or anything like that. They're not cheap, though. They do slightly cheaper one way converters, but it's still fairly pricey.

How about S-video support ? as it might be the answer.

I wouldn't think it'd be likely. The image will still be using NTSC colour encoding through s-video, so it probably wouldn't help.

This is the main reason I had to buy a pal wii, or a new tv

both of my tvs are fine for NTSC through RGB scart, but not composite.

and they dont have svideo ports.

My old toshiba (8-10 years now) can output ntsc signals over all connections.
But in case of s-video it has to be switched manually over the menu,
or i just get black/white picture.
Same applies if i have the s-video in (av2 scart) set on s-video
but composite plugs going in, in that case i have to put it
back on composite via menu or i get a b/w picture,
regardless if the signal is pal or ntsc.

But, RGB bypasses the ntsc encoding. Anything other than rgb(scart), component (not sure about vga/dvi) requires an ntsc compatible tv.

I used to have probs with some dc games not working with the rgb lead and then being stuck in B/W, hence new tv was bought.
