Seiken Densetsu 4 Jp PS2 - impressions anyone ?

Anyone got this yet?

Just want some sort of idea as to whether it's worth getting or not.

Its only been luke warmly accepted by Japanese magazines, but what do they know alot of the time. I'll definitely be getting it, but I'll be waiting for the US version later on. It does look good though, but I'm still doubtful on the direction these games have been taking, and can't see it being a patch on 3.

I'm sorry I can't offer any more insight but I'll still pick up the US version because the turn over and speculative release date of the American version isn't that far off - all things considered.

I'm not tempted enough to get the japanese version, imo the series went downhill after seiken densetsu 2 and although I've found the gameplay aspects I've seen so far quite interesting (altering environment and throwing stuff around with your whip seems like fun) I've heard they've thrown out the multiplayer -.-

This is the final nail in the mana coffin as far as I'm concerned. They've basically taken the already woefully **** Kingdom Hearts combat engine and generic art direction and plopped out a turd of epic proportions.

I'm going to go back and play Secret of Mana 1 on the SNES whilst crying/wanking.

I havn't heard much positive about it myself, so I don't think he is wrong. I thought COM was pretty ****e as well - the series isn't doing too great at all.

It's a shame, Seiken Densetsu 3 was incredible.

2. Where is the ring system?
3. Since when did it become a 3D hack & slash platformer?
4. Bloody ruined my Christmas it did.

Thank god for torrents* as I'd have felt conned paying £35+ for this.

*I only use torrents to try out a game before I decide to buy or not.

So what exactly is wrong with the game besides the art direction (never played Kingdom Hearts)?
