Is there any way of getting online with a Wifi dongle and AOL as ISP?

Tried the Wifi dongle to no avail, what exactly do I need to do or are there any ways of getting the dongle running on AOL?

If not am going to change my ISP as cannot afford a router at present

I bought a datel ds wifi dongle from HMV yesterday and spent most of last night trying to get in working with no success. So I took it back this morning and will wait for a official one. Looking at the Nintendo website it seems as the official one will be easier to connect.

The thing is Keiran, I don't think you can use any dongle when using AOL, I have heard there are hacks, but tried one and it still didn;t work. Something to do with AOL being the ****test internet service provider in the history of interweb-kind, or something. I have the official one - and it no working.

You could be right, as unlike Xbox live, there is no mention of Wii online on the Games part of their website. To be honest after the nightmare I had moving accounts to my new address I think I might jump ship when my contract ends in March. Try some of the AOL message boards, or this place

We have a Datel WIFI-MAX for DS and AOL.To get it to work you need to email Code junkies.com as the settings for AOL are different.Ours now works fine with DS and Wii.

I'm on AOL Silver and use the official Nintendo Wifi dongle and it works perfectly for me for the Wii and the DS.

When I first got the dongle a few months back I had real problems getting it to work but I searched around on the net and found this thread:

By following the info in this I managed to get it working and its been fine ever since. It's all to do with setting up a new connection and signing on to AOL using the new connection when you install the dongle. The full info is in that thread somewhere.

            Hope this helps.

Get a wireless router? Netgear DG834GT, set one up in someone's house with AOL user and password, worked fine.

Get a wireless router, yes, they're not expensive. And also get rid of AOL!

Just get a cheap wireless router, but preferably from one of the better names, Netgear, Linksys (what I use) etc. Won't cost much more than an official Nintendo Wifi dongle anyway.

We've had AOL (Gold package) running through our wireless router for a year now and not had a single drop out when using the Internet. Remember you don't have to use the AOL software too, which is what makes AOL ****, do a normal connection and they are as good as any other ISP. Cheap unlimited downloads ftw. The DS and the WIi connected first time with ease.
