That makes sense actually...I'll give that a try!

Oh, I meant to say, I'd make sure there's a bit of room in the bag though - don't pack them too tight, so there's actually some air in there to warm up when you take it down to get your games out.

I'll let everyone know when I bring the stuff down from the loft when I move it to the new flat. Everything up there is inside bigger sealed boxes, and they are also covered in sheets. I guess only the current cold would condense moisture already inside and do damage. Have to see in due course. Am I bit worried, but no idea whether anything might be affected until it all comes down.

How about getting a load of those small packets of silica gel, they trap any moisture don't they?

Yeah, in the hotter months of the yeah it should be less of a problem.

I'll let everyone now what these canvas holders are like when I've got them, seems like it's not just me that is worried about this!

I didn't think of that! Excellent idea - any idea where can I get those from (aside from stealing them from out of other boxes)?

EDIT: Found this place online, seems quite good?

crap, should have mentioned that myself! I actually use these for my games and magazines stored in the garage loft! Work a treat in there.

I put all my games in good cardboard boxes, with a lining of bubble wrap all around, then securely brown taped. I think they are all okay still after being up there for just over a year.

Allthough I knew one person who left their scalextric up in their loft, a hole was made in the roof, and it rained all over it rusting it all up.

I just remembered you can buy these little condensation eater things from camping and caravan shops. They're usually a round base full of sillica and a grille top, sort of like a bug trap. Not having much like finding them online through.

Well I decided to venture up into the loft last night (in order to fetch my MSX down) and I was surprised to find that there was very little condensation on it when I got in downstairs. I'm still going to invest in the canvas bags and some silica gel, but it's made me feel a bit better about putting stuff up there.

How about those airtight bags you can get, they're huge bags and you seal them then use your vacuum to suck all the air out. Surely if it's air tight moisture can't get in?

Are they big enough to fit cardboard boxes in? I think the canvas bags I'm getting should be ok, so long as I use plenty of silica gel to keep the moisture out. I think my loft is pretty dry, it's obviously just the moisture that is in the house that is causing the problem, when the items are moved from the cold loft into the warm house.
