Got ?300 - How far can I go for an HDTV? (For XBOX 360)

Hi all, I've done a search already and found a few things, but nothing that yet screams "buy me". I've seen this model:

- Is this tv good?

Well, I'm looking for cheapness, as is everyone... But I'm willing to splash the whole ?300 for a good TV.

SO, can anyone suggest a good/cheap HDTV, or monitor, for anything up to ?300?

I've heard bad things about 15" resolutions not really being worth it, so anything bigger than that really!

That's a painfully, painfully small budget for a HDTV. Your likely better off getting a widescreen VGA monitor and the VGA cable. You could get a better quality, and bigger screen.

Ive just got one.
It isnt classed as HDTV but handles 720p through component perfectly, vga was very washed out.

I'm no expert or anything on this HD stuff but looking on ebay there seems to be a few JVC HV32P37 32" CRT TV's that are going for about ?240, don't know if there any good though, does anyone know if these are classed as HD, I was thinking of picking one up myself

They are I have one & so does Baseley09

They do 1080i HD over Component but be warned ANY 60hz RGB signal is downgraded to compo****e which I didnt realise until Baseley09 got his one last month & told me about.

It is a cracking set though & for the money IMO cant be beaten.

I have the 28" version of that JVC and even that looks incredible at 1080i.

Substitue the 32 in the TV code for 28 & it should come up.

As for the 1080i it looks gorgeous GoW is almost unreal in the detail levels I'm so glad I got one worth every penny I paid for it (Just under ?400 delivered this time last year)

Cant recommend it enough...only downside is the 60Hz problem makes my Dreamcast totally unusable on it

If I get one I'd probably use it for the wii through component and also my dreamcast, is there no way of connecting the dreamcast up via the vga box

Nope no VGA out at all.

You can use the DC but you cant run anything @ 60hz basically the screen just goes black & you cant see anything at all so you have to reset it & run everyting @ 50hz & heaven help you if you try to play any import 60hz games on it total pain in the arse so I use mine on my 17" LCD screen in the bedroom

480p for the Wii looks fine though really crisp & clear & 60hz is fine over component as GoW & any of my Gamecube games played on the Wii prove

It really is a fine set other than that problem but granted it can be a BIG problem as you've pointed out
