How to run MP3s/JPEGs from a memory stick on a PS3?

I've converted some of my iTunes tracks into MP3 using iTunes. I transferred them to memory stick, but the PS3 doesn't recognise that there is anything on the memory stick. Am I doing something wrong? Same thing happens with photos taking using my Sony Ericsson mobile.

I'd appreciate any help, as it's beginning to annoy me.

Haven't tried running anything from a memory card but other than stating the obvious stuff (make sure it's inserted, supported etc.) on Playstation.com the only meaningful thing they say is:

If the storage media is formatted (initialized) on a PC, the PLAYSTATION®3 may not recognize it. After copying the required data to a PC, try reformatting the media on the PLAYSTATION®3.
Might be worth formatting it on your PS3 and see if that helps. Are the Itunes tracks ones you've downloaded from the store as I'm not sure the PS3 will play copyright protected tracks...

If I remember correctly, you need to press the triangle button and select display all. The same thing as with the Ipod. That may work.

I'll try formatting on the PS3 and then giving it a go. My songs are ripped from CDs. I'll try that Triangle "display all" thang too.

Just to point out, the memory stick must be formatted as FAT/FAT32. NTFS does not work.

I formateed my external USB HDD as FAT32 and it read it straight off.
XP would not format a drive over 32GB as FAT32 though, I had to download PartitionMagic.
