fine ring on xbox 360 discs?

i was playing gears quite happily and the fmv cutscene at the end of act 3 or start of act 4, (resonator) was skipping. so i checked my disc to see if there were any scratches and all i could find was a fine perfect ring going around a cm apart from the xbox 360 copyright thing.

Is this normal has anyone had any experiences with this?

Just looked at my Asian Gears disc and I can see this fine ring in the place you describe. I have yet to play the game yet (apart from briefly to check it wasn't region locked) so I would guess it is not a problem with your disc, at least.

I've had that - Think it's cause it's caching lots of data whilst it plays - I'm sure I'd read of it happening to other people as well so I wouldn't worry about it.

Not sure about that "ring" on the disc though
