Sony video editing software?

I have a 30GB Sony camcorder and I am quite new to this whole video stuff. I would like to know what a good programme is to edit videos which is easy to use. Also, when I transfer the videos from my camcorder to my Vaio laptop, I just get thumbnails for every scene. How can I select some and make one video of em? Please help me out, I have some very cool arcade vids but all those loose scenes suck, I want to make a normal video.

The best thing I have found is Windows Movie Maker, it's not too hard to use and it's free on XP.

Sony's software is an absolute dream to work with but it's very expensive and really made for people who are a bit more advanced in working with video files.

I would reccomend using the windows software to start with, and if it does not have enough options for you, then try something a bit cheaper like premiere.
