Surround Sound through HDMI?

If I have a PS3 with HDMI, how do I get it hooked up through surround sound?

You need an AV receiver with HDMI inputs.

You can just use the optical out to get surround if you don't have the ability to use HDMI.

Or you can use the white and red of the supplied composite lead. You just have to change the output method in the PS3's menu.

You can then go direct to your amp.

Ol' redey and whitey aren't exactly surround sound tho

If you don't have a HDMI amp, use optical.

How good it is with PS3 ? as I got no optical socket left and have an amp with spare HDMI input. Just for future reference.
