Laptop Repairs - Who Do I Trust ?

Hello, my IBM Think Pad T30 is having intermittent issues. From what i can gather there is an issue whereby the HDD is not recognised when booting up the machine and it just hangs after the bios screen. If i reboot it a few times it recognises the drive and boots up but the slightest knock around where the HDD sits and the machine locks up.

I would like to have the machine repaired as i need it for work and am using a loaner from work at the moment. I am based in W Yorkshire so would appreciate any suggestions as to who would be able to possibly fix it. Would also post in the UK but preference is drop off.

    Thanks, Alex.

Are there any reputable independent PC shops in your area? Always worth a try.

Who does the IT stuff at yor work? Can they fix it for you?

Your hard drive has become damaged, possibly due to a knock or due to age.

The easiest repair would be to replace the HDD and do a fresh install of windows. If however you need to keep all the dtat currently on the drive, are you able to boot into windows at all when it recognises the HDD??If so buy an external drive and back up all your files, you'll also benefit from having the spare drive as you can backup all your important data in the future should a problem arise again. Could also use it at work to take important files off your business pc and transfer them to the laptop quickly and safely.

Now as for repairing the drive.I would say it is nigh on impossible and would more than likely be as expensive as buying a new drive.

The best place for Thinkpad repairs is IBM themselves.Honestly, this gives you the security if the repair is not up to scratch, you can send it back to them.
