Which is the best/most reliable PS2 chip ?

I have a series 12 (70000) Jpn psTwo. Now I have a small collection of US titles as well I am thinking to get it chipped as a backup to my US machine (and get the laser protection added as I think my machine is one which can go..)

So having a look round there seems to be 3 chips available. Is there any reason to go with a particular one ? Basically I just want to run US titles on my Jpn player (though if its easy I like the idea of being able to run games off a harddisc thereby being able to hid the original discs away ) Is this possible and does it work consistently ?

    Cheers

    Matt

No idea about the others but I'm very happy with my Matrix Infinity.

I have and love the Ghost2 chip. Nuff said!

If you want more opinions use the 'Search this forum' button. Then type +best +ps2 +modchip and hit go.

You can't go wrong with a DMS4 Lite or Pro either. I'm proud to say I installed my Lite myself (but I never wish to have to go through that again).

So if I had the DMS fitted how easy it is to get the HD working with a slimline ? How do you connect it ?

            cheers

I've heard nothing but good things about the DMS4 (which I've had in my slimline for over two years with no issues) and Matrix Infinity. Right now I'd go for the Matrix since software support for the DMS4 seems to have essentially died off, even if there aren't really any outstanding issues.

If you want to run games from a hard drive then I think that the only chip that allows it is the DMS4 Pro with ToxicOS installed. I don't have the faintest idea about getting a hard drive running on a v12, though.

Another vote for DMS4 Pro. Got one with ToxicOS bios and a 300GB HardDrive and all my games installed
