    360 VGA Problem

I have just bought a new Samsung LCD for playing 360 and Wii as I had outstayed my welcome on our main TV as far as the wife was concerned.

Yesterday I tried to hook up via VGA but with no success as the screen kept coming up as "Mode Not Supported".

The screen definately supports VGA input in the resolutions that the 360 outputs.

I have read a few bits on the web about people experiencing similar problems and it seems it is the 360 that may be at fault and not kicking into VGA mode on boot up.

Anyone experienced similar and have any ideas??

One suggestion was to try and navigate the menus blind??

    Any ideas please...

    Cheers.

might be the resolution on the 360 is set to something your samsung does not like i have changed this before and then had a nervous wait while the resolution sorted itself out.
does the machine output via component or compo****e? that would certainly test whether the output of the 360 is b0rked

navigating the menu's blind is easy enough i'm at work so i can tell you exactly what to press but if no one else answers then i will do it later for you

      Hiya mate

I can get component and composite output working fine.

But as soon as I connect via the vga lead it just wont display at all.

I have the 27" S Series Samsung panel and that should have full VGA Support.

I found an article somewhere that indicated the 360 had a problem sometimes detecting vga connection.

You could perhaps connect a PC monitor and change resolution to one compatible with the Samsung. A number of new panels have stopped supporting 1280x720 over VGA (1280x768 being the nearest) - it could be that the 360 was previously set to this in VGA if it's been used with a monitor, or that it's defaulting to a low resolution the Samsung doesn't support.

The easiest answer is to connect to a monitor (if one is handy), try various resolutions on the dashboard and then plug the 360 into the Samsung step by step.

My samsung does not support 1280x768 over VGA, I get mode not supported.
The other one 1320x768 ?? works fine.

If I remember correctly though 1280x720 works, except it has lovely banding thanks to Microsoft's VGA tinkering in one of the previous dash updates. I don't know if this banding has been fixed yet.

I've got a Samsung LE32R41BD and use 1360x768 and it looks great and I prefer it to component.

The main issue with VGA is no 50Hz support, which hinders some BC experiences.

Does anyone else get noticable tearing whilst using VGA on Samsungs ( mines a 27") its really distracting
Components fine but certain games are rife with it (Lost Planet & Dead Rising come to mind)
