    Region Coding on Wii

Did it happen or not? I'm considering importing a US Wii as all this 50Hz pish coming back to haunt me and not being able to play all my old US GC games is pissing me off.

Someone says they imported a copy of Wii Play from Singapore for their UK Wii and it didn't work.

I thought Wii was region free?

Nope, it's region-enabled whatever that means

The Wii is totally locked down, unfortunately they didn't even take Microsoft's stance towards region coding, which would have been a nice halfway house.

If you've got a load of US GC games, then you need a US Wii, but there's no solution for RGB yet, so you are either using svideo for SD or component for ED (if your TV supports 480p). Goddamit Nintendo. Why?

There's a new version of Freeloader that works on the PAL Wii.

            I have a usa wii.
Composite and component cables work fine on my HD TV but using composite on my small 14" telly i've had for years... it's in black and white, i assume its because its ntsc.

If I buy a scart (Rgb or none) from the uk for my wii will it work fine with my wii and small tv?

Evidently no RGB support in the US Wii sadly.

I've got it hooked up to a 50" Pioneer so no problems there. F**king Nintendo though, I believed the c**ting b*stards with their no region lockout pish.

It's a bit early for the hackers to have cracked an entirely new Nintendo optical disc format. Do you remember how long it was between Freeloader being announced and it actually coming out?
