    Cheap Toslink SPDIF Cable?

Anyone know where I can get one as cheap as possible, not fussed too much as it is a digital signal anyway, which AFAIK is not affected as much by cable quality as analogue.

Of course correct me if I'm wrong, any recommendations?

I've got a spare optical cable. PM me with how long you need and I'll check if it'll do the job tonight.

I use the exact same cables as Shakey Jake. I use them with my Xbox 360 and PS3 and they work perfectly. They do good quality cheap HDMI cables too

Same here . That cable is a bargain and it's fine for consoles. I've used optical cables that cost £30 for 1m, and ones that cost £10m...I couldn't hear any difference at all and I'm very perceptive at picking out differences in audio quality

Cheers for the suggestions guys. It's for my original xbox just trying to get a good set up going. As an extra question, what exactly is the quality of sound offered by the xbox, is it 5.1 or DTS, would be handy to know for future set ups.

The XBox, like all games consoles with optical, outputs Dolby Digital as standard, though there's no reason why games can't use DTS. Don't think any do though.

The whole Dolby Digital Vs. DTS debate is a can of worms not worth touching.

I've bought several Toslink cables over the last few months for my Xbox(es) and PS2 and I agree I don't notice any difference in the audio quality. However, I go for those designated 'pro' simply because the thicker heavier weight and better quality connectors are surely more robust. Best deal I found recently was at www.ukdj.com - 3m Soundlab Toslink cable : ?5.31 including VAT and P&P.

These types can be found quite cheap on eBay too. I use one for my 360 and it's great.

The quality of these digital cables is neither here nor there once the connection is made if it works it wil work 100%, tho for sure get one thats not 50p and gonna fall apart.

I've never had a problem with the centre channel on the Xbox or 360.

Call of Duty 3 on the 360 is unusual though, because it doesn't use the centre channel at all.

Return To Castle Wolfenstein had what sounds like a similar issue, at least with the speech in the FMVs. Nothing was coming from the centre - it was really weird having a guy talking on screen slightly to the left of centre but the dialogue only coming out of the left speaker. During the game I never noticed this or had any problems with the sound.
