Loads of people.. I'm trying to find a link on this very forum about it.
*EDIT* bollocks.. Can't find it. Here's a youtube clip showing it in it's full glory: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IoCD9TwLrVs&eurl=
It a rendering problem with PS3 and apparently Sony are working on it.
And I've spent my 'PS3 Knowledge' load now. Good Night.Last edited by k0pp0; 19-01-2007, 11:45.

I turn off the 480p option in the XMB. Everything seems to run fine then. If a PS2 game supports 480p I just do the X and Triangle thing. Problem solved IMO, and I'm playing on a 50" HDTV so jaggies are a problem. Riiiiiiiiiiiiidge Racer looks terrible through 480p. MGS doesn't seem to be affected though.Kept you waiting, huh?

There is a known issue with the PS3 where PS1/2 games (mostly PS2 games) that use obscure resolutions (most Japanese-made games use 512x512 for example) simply do not display correctly, resulting in lines all across the screen.
This is due to the way the RSX renders them, and people don't even know if it's fixable! I'd certainly say it makes the titles pretty much unplayable too.
Anything from FF to DMC to MGS2 has the issue!
Ther'es a huge topic, with pictures, on the official Sony forums http://boardsus.playstation.com/play...read.id=808212

Fair enough. I was going on what I'd read on another forum, but I'll bow to the greatness of the official ones
If it's not fixable at all that's even worse than I thought. I imagined it was an issue since it was blowing up the image without scaling/interpolating it, but thinking about it that doesn't make a lot of sense since then the TV would just do it.

The most gutting thing about it is that Sony fail to even recognise the issue, dispite the huge coverage in the gaming press and on their own forums.
They also failed to recognise to recognise the other scaling issue (the machine being unable to upscale, causing problems on 1080i-only screens), which was basically because they couldn't do anything about it.
The issue is visually *worse* than the screenshots show too, it's why so many of us still have our PS2's set up.

Just looked at that Youtube clip and man that looks terrible! I have a hard enough time accepting normal PS2 jaggies and blur effect. I won't be getting a PS3 if Sony doesn't correct it by the time it's released over here (I have loads of PSone and PS2 games I might like to play in the future)Last edited by ploder; 20-01-2007, 00:06.
