My DC-X does not work in VGA mode!?

I bought this to play PAL games on my US Dreamcast and when I put the DC-X in there is no screen. So I ignore that and put in soul calibur and it loads up in VGA mode fine, BUT Shenmue and Crazy Taxi don't load up in VGA mode there is sound but no picture.

I know Shenmue works in VGA mode because the action replay CD-X boots up all my PAL games in VGA mode. The action replay isn't mine so I need to get this sorted before I give it back to my mate.

    Can anyone help? Cheers

I think that the DC-X menu was in some sort of weird Interlaced VGA mode that almost no new screens can display. Odd that Shenmue or CT don't work...

Have you tried pressing START, RIGHT, A before inserting the game disc? From memory that will change one of the DC-X's video config options. (It may be START, LEFT, A, I can't remember which).

No luck. It's odd because I bought it from playasia and everyone in the review section says it forces VGA on none compatible VGA games. This is the opposite though.

I'll try plugging the composite cable in so I can see if there are any other options; it's the only way to see it in interlaced then.

When I look at the DC-X screen in interlaced there are no options. It just shows you an arrow that means take the disc out, and then when I open the DC it gives me another arrow that means put the game in.

This is what I've been doing. I put the DC-X in, turn the DC on, then when I've heard that it's loaded I put a game in, wait and after a few seconds I see the SEGA license screen which is in progressive and then it goes back to interlaced saying "not supported mode"

By the way this is on my HDTV not my TFT. Maybe it's forcing a resolution that the TV can't support and not going back to interlaced?

            This Might Help.

            Burn to a CD-R.

            Pop it in and go.

There you have your own Gameshark disk to play your DC games in perfect VGA.

This is what I use for my DC VGA on my Plasma and it works perfect.

I managed to get it working lyris. I just copied my mates action replay . I can't believe how easy it was to copy. It was free with a magazine years ago. All I did was put the disc in one drive and put the blank CD in the other drive and clicked direct copy. 30 seconds later it was done. I proper expected it to not boot up but it did! Good old nero

I know where not supposed to talk about copies but it's only an free action replay, I wasn't even expecting it to work with nero.

Anyway Shenmue looks stunning in VGA! Way better than any other last gen console in 480P through component. It's a dead clean and crisp image, not blurry.
