    Blue screen of death

My laptops suddenly started giving me the random blue screen of death while im on it now, done a virus, spyware & adware check, to which had no problems. Did a registery clean up aswell.

Now the thing is, i havent installed or downloaded anything on it for weeks... why would it just randomly start doing it.

It's saying something like Kernal_Input_Page_Error or something when it does give me that screen, searched on google to no avail.

Anyone got any ideas? I use this laptop stupid amounts and could do without losing my 60gb of music etc.

    Thanks

    Ben

without knowing what laptop and os your using this is just trial and error.

It would be useful to check your ram as a faulty stick can give you the bsd.If it has more than one stick then try running it with one stick at a time to see if anything shows up.

Disabling bios shadowing or caching in the bios can also cure the bsd. Some bios dont have this option though so you will have to check.

Just wondering if you use windows xp and have automatic updates turned on incase some update has caused the problem.

get the 0x000000xx code and check it against the ms knowledge base.

Is it a Dell btw? if so run diags on it. With the machine off hold in the Function (Fn) key and turn the machine on. keep the button held and diags will run. If you get any errors lmk and i'll tell you what they mean.

Run the diags as mentioned here.

If no hardware faults come back you're probably looking at software

Anymore help guys? Im on it at the mo, but as i've said before, randomly ill be in the middle of doing something and boom, out comes the message.

Can't even format the machine as the cd rom tray on this is busted too, therefore making a boot disk usless!

It will probably turn out to be a bit of dodgy hardware which is a pain.

Memory probably, but could be graphics card etc etc.

I'd take some backups if I were you

Hmm, the only thing worth saving is the music...

However i can't even format the hdd or try reinstalling as the cdrom tray doesn't work and i dont have a floppy drive.
