PS2 HDD Question

Have an offical Sony HDD coming through soon to use on my DMS modded PS2.
May be a silly question, but the PS2 is U.S and wondered if that means I'd have problems with HD Advance installing Jap and/or PAL games to the Hard Disk? Is this a prob or can any games, no matter what region be installed? Bearing in mind the console is modded.

Any game can be installed (assuming the game itself is compatible, most are), but imports must be installed via PC by putting the HDD in the PC and installing, but why did you get an official Sony HDD? It's only 40GB, you can use any IDE drive you want. 500GB ones are sub-£100 now.

Yeah I know, because it was free...lol!
So even though the PS2 is chipped I can't put say my original Garou:MOW on the HDD. I'd have to do it via PC??
If that's the case, I only have a laptop, could I FTP it to the HDD with Winhiip or Exec_ftp or anything like that

Oh sorry, if your PS2 is chipped it should copy fine.

Mind you, you can actually rip out blank data from games to reduce the size of them, though obviously that affects some games more than others.

HDAdvance only checks for region when installing a game onto the HD. So even if your PS2 was not chipped, you could install on another chipped PS2 and just move the HD back. Or do the PC route.

Yeah, think I'm going to go for HDloader anyhow. Know I can load it onto the memory card and boot from there in DEV 1 mode on the chip.
