    Just flogged my Wii

I know its early days, but this console just wasn't happening for me

Had Zelda and Wii sports. Zelda was okay, but I'd have been happy enough playing it on the cube, and the latter was fun for about 5 minutes until it was apparent that you could wave the controller in any direction you wanted with similar effect.

Just flogged it on fleabay (for a profit!).

Felt a little guilty....particularly as it had been a gift from Father Christmas ....but the kids weren't that interested in it either, and had drifted back to their PS2.

Is it just me, or was this new gen console way over-hyped!

Perhaps I was expecting too much?

I'm probably going to do the same

      I'm not alone then.

I'd consider selling it now whilst they're fetching silly money. Some have been selling well in excess of ?300

It's only just come out. Launches are always a bit limp. What did you expect? A constant stream of amazing games? First, that doens't happen on any console and second, it happens least of all on Nintendo consoles.

Indeed. I'll admit I'm not playing mine except for when we have people round, when its a riot and hilarious fun.

No way I'm parting with it, I can't wait for stuff like Brain Training, Trauma Centre and ANIMAL CROSSING!!! (I'll never see my Wii again when she gets her hands on Animal Crossing Wii...)

It's a mint console and I'm still gonna keep mine for mazza but there are no hardcore games for it yet (only Zelda but that's on the cube). I know Nintendo are trying to get a new user base but they are forgetting about us.

Don't blame you for selling it mate, just get another one in Q4 2007.

                I flogged mine too.

Before it was released I was a slightly sceptical but tried to keep an open mind. However, it left me pretty cold once the novelty ran out. The only games I really enjoyed were Wario & Kororinpa. The controller(s) feel like one of these game specific peripherals that Sega used to produce for the DC, but to rely on it as the main control method....not for me thanks! It's just personal preference but I'd go for a traditional pad any day...20 years of pad & sticks probably has something to do with this though!

Whilst I know it's based on GC technology I was still hoping that the games would be a bit more advanced technically & graphically. A lot of the early stuff just seems like either a collection of (half assed) minigames or tech demos aimed at showing off the weird & wonderful ways the Wiimote can be used.

Probably the biggest thing that turned me off thoughwas a look at the release list for much of this year. There just isn't all that much on the way & the stuff that I was really looking forward to (Mario Galaxy & Metroid wotsitsname) had their dates put back shortly after release. Call me cynical but I reckon Nintendo knew all along these games were a long way off but deliberately held off revising the dates 'til after launch.

I like the fact that Nintendo have tried to do something different though rather than getting into a pissing contest with MS & Sony. I think the Wii'll be a big success but it's just not for Mii (sic).

                  What did you expect? [/quote]

No.....not a constant supply of amazing games. Perhaps a few more on the horizon though to balance out the mediocre ones that are currently being released.

I guess the fact that I already have a comprehensive retro collection doesn't help, i.e., the virtual console component isn't of interest.

Not particularly interested in web browsing or playing with pictures via a console either.

I appreciate it's a fairly radical departure from the norm....just didn't feel that radical to play.

Just a personal point of view and was curious to know how other people were experiencing it.

Will be interesting to see how I feel about it a year down the line.

While I don't disagree with this wholesale (Far from it, I'd love to see Zelda in HD! ), I think it's likely that Nintendo have had a hand in driving the third party content we've seen so far to ensure it backs up their marketing of the platform.

I'm still fairly optimistic that those games built for the console from the ground up will impress technically (Mario and Metroid certainly look impressive enough), but don't expect too much of that content to be coming from third parties, so probably few and far between when the big first party titles hit home.

For the record I've only bought Zelda with mine and there's not much on the horizon that I'm interested in picking up for it (Though I am rather salivating at what I've seen of SSX Blur so far), but I certainly won't sell it.

I think Peter Moore hit the nail on the head when he said the Wii would make a perfect companion console to the [PS3 or] Xbox 360.

                        Silence heretics!

I'm having a whale of a time with my Wii. I am going to hang onto it at all costs! Zelda is outstanding and having played the cube version I do prefer having the new wiimote controls for use in the game.

Wii Sports has been a big hit too with even non-gaming mates who come around to the house begging to have 'just one more go'

I am really having a hoot on Excite Truck and the Virtual Console too. If all that were not enough before long we'll have Mario Galaxy and Metroid Corruption!

This has been one of my most loved console launches since the MD and the SNES. I am very pleased with my purchase!

(I still got a spare one to sell on eBay mind! Mwwohahaha! )

I would sell mine and buy it later on when some more games come out. How can you go wrong?!

I wouldn't really call the Wii the 'next generation.' As for your experiences you have confirmed to me my suspicions. Waiving a remote in front of the tv is just a fad and will die out. Sure there may be a few decent games released in the future, but not enough to justify spending money on another console (regardless of how cheap it is)

                              The Dreamcast.

Virtua Fighter 3tb, SEGA Rally 2 & Sonic Adventure. I played those for bloody years.

Anywho if there's nothing you want on the Wii, then sell it. There's no point holding onto something if your not intrested in it. Get something else!
