Fake Memory Stick?

After reading the other thread about memory sticks,i feel sure i have one here,unless im doing something wrong.

My friend came to me in the week asking him to put movies on his PSP,so i formatted the stick,converted the file,put it into 100MNV001,retitled as M4V0001,and the closest i have got to getting it to work is 'Corrupt File'.

Tried 3 diff files and all wont play so im thinking its the stick not me. Its a sort of reddish brown,with gold lettering that is slightly off center.

Might not be the card. I often get corrupted video files when I manually put them on my PSP. I just put them through Video 9 and use it to copy them to the stick. For whatever reason that always gets them working. I guess I should look into the reasons for this but I'm too lazy.
