24p meh... unless you watch a lot of 24p material and notice a stutter with your current set, not really worth an upgrade.

I've got the 46" version of that TV and it truly is amazing. It's dropped in price a bit too seeing as Sony keep releasing new model numbers.

nice one i'm getting a sony kdl40v4000 or the 40w4000 tv but cant stretch to one of those kuro plasma ones though

i've read that plasma tvs are better on sd material over lcd tvs is that right ?

Negligible in my opinion these days. I had the Sony W2000 loved it, you've got a nice set. Enjoy it mate

When I compare the poor quality signals from freeview via RGB Scart on my plasma, I haven't found an LCD set yet that looks as good. It's fine if you sit back a bit though and plasmas have their own cons.

When I compared the DC via rgb scart, there wasn't much in it.

My plasma is far better in daylight than LCDs. The funny sheen that LCDs have on them seems to grab light from the side e.g. windows and make the screen wash out. But at night with the lights on, you'll get a reflection in the plasma glass that you won't get with an LCD, noticeable in darker sequences of film etc. This is fine for me because the screen is slightly above eye level and there's nothing on the white wall behind me. If it was below eye level it might be more of a consideration.

Basically neither is perfect and you'll no doubt be happy enough with whatever you end up with.

Main reason I went for plasma is because you can get groovy monitors with no speakers or tuner (i.e. stuff I don't need).
So you end up with a really clean looking piece of kit
