In regards to aspect ratio - I feel it's subjective to both the source material and what 'stretch' mode is used.
All 4:3 games look awful played in true widescreen mode, but some games look fine when 'autofit' is used because the image distortion is very slight (to my eyes anyway).
Having said that I do understand why some people refuse to play games in anything other than what the designers intended. When it comes to music I loathe treble, bass and balance controls, graphic equlualisers, megabass, stadium, rock, disco etc. modes, dolby surround, 3D sound, or anything that alters the original sound.

I play using a true widescreen mode if games are in 4:3. My TV has a mode called "SuperLive" (which I guess is similar to "fit" modes) in which it works by leaving the central part of display unstretched and then stretches other areas more to compensate. This is fine for TV, but with a game you notice part of the screen warping more because you tend to have to look around the screen. So although w/s will mess up the aspect ratio, at least it's consistant

I thought it was about time i put my modest setup on here, i've never posted pics before so fingers crossed they will come out ok!!
First a look at the ol' bookcase, as you can see i've got way more DVD's than games, got my ryu and ken money boxes (thanks Ebay) and there is now a set of Bongo's on that shelf as well
Further down in the middle of the bookcase is my Consolised Neo Geo MVS, not used it for a while so is getting a wee bit dusty
Then all my games occupying the bottom shelves, quite a small collection but i've rid myself of most of the **** (need to get rid of those AES games as well!) Then i've got my TV setup with Gamecube Panasonic Q and PS2 along with my amp, dvd player etc
And then finally, my Mario phone, no house is complete without one!!
YAY!! THE PICS WORKED!!!!
