    PS3 with a Dell 2405FPW monitor

    Hi all,

Can anyone using their PS3 with a Dell 2405FPW tell me what cables you are using and what kind of results you got.

I have a PS3 pre-ordered for March and wondered whether I should get a HDMI-DVI cable or a component cable. Things started getting confusing when I started reading that this monitor may or may not support HDCP and therefore higher resolutions won't be supported via the DVI option. I don't know if HDCP applies only to movies or to movies and games.

I use the 360 with the 2405 at 1920 x 1080 but it does use a fill, I'm guessing to scale the 16:9 image to the 16:10 aspect ration of this monitor.

    Any replies would be appreciated.

The 2405FPW doesn't support 1080p over component, it'll do 720p and 1080i though. You're right that it doesn't support HDCP.

If you go into the OSD and set the picture mode to 'aspect' or '1:1' it'll stop stretching your 360 gaming and maintain the correct aspect ratio.

Thanks Mud. Component looks like the way to go. I'd be happy with 1080i when playing VF5
      Cheers

Any further comments would be appreciated from 2405FPW users. Can PS3 be connected via VGA?
