DS Lite screen innaccuracy - Repair?

    Hiya

The touch screen on my DS Lite has gone completely off target now. You have to aim quite a bit to the left for it to pick up anything. I tried calibrating it, but it won't do anything at all.

According to Nintendo's US site, this means that it's buggered and needs to be repaired. I tried calling their UK office (Codestorm?) but they always stick my on hold for at least 15 minutes, which is ridiculous as I'm calling from a mobile and I can't afford that.

So! Any idea what it's going to cost? Are they reliable?
    Any better ideas?

It's not super urgent as I'm only playing Phoenix Wright 2 right now and that doesn't care about the touch screen, but my girlfriend's having a horrid time in Cooking Mama.

Hmm, this has me concerned slightly. I’ve been playing Cooking Mama for the last few weeks and noticed that sometimes the stylus accuracy was quite poor. However, I don’t recall any issues prior to playing Cooking Mama so I assumed it was a software issue rather than hardware.

Have you tried it on other touch screen intensive games to confirm the problem? I’m definitely going to try a few others this evening.

      Will your DS calibrate?
      Mine simply refuses to.

I've tried cleaning it as the link advises and now I'm lost.

I found that the chopping and fry/stewing minigames in Cooking Mama were particularly bad. You have to aim a few millimeters left of the knife to get it to chop, and adjusting the heat on the stove seems to be more a matter of luck than anything else.

I don't know if I've got any other DS games that have any indication of such accuracy... I'll try Pictochat, actually. That should be a good indication. I remember it being a bit off when I got it, but it never got in the way of gameplay before.

Yeah heating the stove is where I first noticed its inaccuracy. Also, peeling potatoes/carrots can be hit and miss sometimes. Other problems are where sometimes the game just won’t register the stylus at all when slicing up ingredients.

These aren’t 100% occurrences for me (I don’t have to aim purposely to the left as you say) so, as I say, had attributed it to the game itself. I will run the calibration later and try a few games once I get home. Seems on odd coincidence that we’ve both noticed it on the same game though.

          Just tested it out.

Ran the calibration utility without any issues and Pictochat appeaared to work flawlessly.

            Lucky you
I think it's just mine then. Ah well.

Has that resolved your issues with Cooking Mama?

I guess I should ask again. Has anyone had any experience with Nintendo's repair centre, and can you tell me how long the warranty is for? I've had it for about 6 months, so should it still be covered?

The warranty is for 12 months so you should definately be covered, try contacting nintendo and see what they say.
