Can my Dreamcast please be quiet?

I have a PAL Dreamcast. The fan speeds up to max and sounds very loud after I have played for a while. The sound of the fan is very annoying and I think that it should be possible to do something about it. I tried to fit my Zalman Fanmate to the fan-port on the Dreamcast, but the connector is not of the same size. Can I buy a new quiet fan that fits my Dreamcast or do I need to modify my current fan or something like that?

Sorry if this isn't helpful, but wait until you get a 360!

I can imagine how terrible it sounds as I bought an Xbox at the end of 2004 that was very loud. I had to exchange it to an older model to become even with the problem. But I do not have an Xbox anymore so it was a real shock for me when my Dreamcast suddenly started to sound like it was going to depart to the moon!

I'm sure someone will come along and help you, sorry i couldn't

I often play games early hours, but the 360 sounds amazingly loud at 3-4am when its pretty peaceful save a bird tweating or something.

I am now thinking about fitting a resistor in the cable of the fan. Maybe a 3W resistor with 39ohms resistance?

          I have seen this guide:

          technology,hardware,graphics,motherboard,reviews,gaming,video games,pc games,analysis,modding,case mod,news,headlines

But I cannot find a similar rheostat, so that's why I am thinking about fitting a resistor there instead.
