Trouble with Pro Duo stick on PS3

I've been trying to insert the 2gb Sandisk Pro Duo stick I use on my PSP into the memory slot on my PS3 but it doesn't seem to fit, it only goes half way and no more, do you need an adapter for these kind of sticks on PS3?
