Soul Calibur 2: 'Extra Vs' annoyance and frustration

    Good day all,

Just a quick Q concerning Soul Calibur 2 (JAP GC) that has been bothering me for some time now, even effecting my overall enjoyment of the game, so any help will be most appreciated...

As you are no doubt aware, to use the extra weapons etc you need to play in the 'extra' modes. However i rarely use the extra 'vs' mode because it has a really annoying addition. I am not sure why it does it, but during some part of the battle, the players begin to lose health after attacking. Meaning that life goes down even when that player isn't receiving an attack. This is ever so frustrating and prevents me from using the extra weapons and levels and ultimately meaning i am missing one of the main additions to SC2 in the vs mode: the unlockable weapons. It also happens in the Team mode. Not sure able the arcade mode...

Therefore... is there a way i can prevent this from happening... surely there must be something? Many thanks in advance

    Kind regards

    Yes, I also noticed.
But I think it's not some weird addition in the extra mode, but just an effect that some specific weapons have.
I don't know if it's really the case, but I noticed I only had this while playing with some of the higher unlocked weapons.

I guess this is a problem we have with playing the Japanese game. We simply don't know what effect certain weapons have.

I remember back in the days of Soul Edge some of the more powerful weapons would penalise people who use them by constantly reducing their energy. The offset being that whenever you land damage on your opponent you inflict much more than normal. I guess the effect is also on some weapons here but until we get a fully translated version we can't know for sure.

Thank you for ur replies. That could possibly be just what it is. I shall put SC2 on now and check it out. By that i mean i shall use the different weapons in order and see if the health lose occurs.

If that is the case, then that is totally acceptable and would actually add to the game play and strategy, not take from it. I will be getting the US version for sure anyhow, so we shall know for definite then. Thanks again.

*Edit* Yep. This is definitely the case. Thanks again guys

*Edit 2* I think there is a way to tell the health losing weapons (HLWs) apart from the non-health losing weapons. There are two characters that are constantly used, only on the HLWs. It is a shame i cant post them here... but i tried almost all the weapons with these two characters and all of them made the character lose health, whereas the others didn't...

Goto Gamefaqs and get the list for SC2. It tells you what the stats for each weapon are and what it does to each player...
