Just wanted to know whether placing the PS2 vertically makes any difference to the lifespan of the console effectiveness or not?
Because i know a long while back during early in the Playstation era, that the when playing the launch machine for hours until end the laser got knackered and games either could not load/took ages to load. To get it working better, you had to place the console on the side and it would read the disks.
Recently i'm having a few disk read errors i think, where i hear the lens drive trying to read the disk, then the lens drive clicks/skips like mad. Doesn't happen very often, so i have to reset. Mainly happens when i haven't played the PS2 for a few days.
Would placing the console on its side get rid of the DRE's for the time being? or is the console shafted.
