NTSC Duel layer discs for a European PS2

I've recently heard that imported dual layered discs can't be read on a European PS2, I didn't know this untill I tried out Rogue Galaxy and did some research as to why it didn't work. If this is true does anyone know a way around it or will I have to mod my PS2/Import one?

Well, no NTSC games can be read on a Euro PS2 so I'll assume you're using Swap Magic?
No, unfortunately you'll need a hard modded PS2 for any import dual-layer stuff.

Pretty much all modern modchips can play dual layer discs. You're out of luck if you're on Swap Magic or any other method, though.

sorry I should have mentioned I was using swap magic, Thanks a lot for your help though as I thought that chips would have the same problem.
