    360 VGA or Component

Simple as really lads... which gives off the better picture for my sexy hd tv?

    #2
    You got the Toshiba right?
I personally swear by using VGA on it, it gives you 100% of your 360s output visible on screen , so nothing can beat it in terms of crispness.
Also it means I can use the PC media window mode and watch TV whilst playing a game.

Some people dislike the apparent lack of colour that VGA offers by comparison to component, but if you have component set up correctly they should look the same colour wise anyhows.

Vga doesn't allow for quite a few backwards compatible games to work, so if you reguarly plan on playing lots of different xbox games then it could prove troublesome too.

Colours aren't as vivid over VGA, even if you de-saturate Component's colourbalance. Having said that it is slightly smoother in terms of image definition, so it really comes down to which you prefer.

If you calibrate them both correctly, there isn't a whole lot in it. On a couple of HDTVs I used Component overscans by about 3-5% of the screen using the 360, which could be an issue for you.

I use Component simply because 1080i looks stunning and VGA is used for the PC. Splitting the signal over VGA without ghosting or overall losing quality is also a pain in the arse. I guess it depends if you use VGA with anything else.

Well, i just wanna plug my Wii in through the components without having to do a switcharoo every 5 mins i wanna play a different console.

But yes, i do have the Toshiba one boris, i'll bag one of these when i can.

Also saw today a 3rd party component for £12.99 or the official for £27.99 :O

The official one has an RRP of ?19.99 , so it must of been priced wrong.

i had my 360 on vga for ages till i wanted to connect both my 360 and dreamcast to my Tosh.

So i switched to component for the 360 and vga for my DC. My preference is for vga so i might switch back but then that would mean the DC going to RGB <cry>

I sway towards Component myself, but I can see why someone would use VGA. A lot of it depends on how well your TV handles each signal.

For me, the lack of screen tearing, 50Hz ~XBox1 compatibility, more vivid colours and other stuff make Component my choice.

I just don't want to lose the picture quality when i swap, i mean i know it sounds silly, but i want my cube, wii, ps3 & 360 to be set-up and not need for me to ever go behind the tv again
