    xbox 360 wireless adaptor

Does anyone know how far away the xbox 360 wireless adaptor can work from, whilst remaining a relatively good connection quality?

    cheers,

Well my PC is in the bedroom (to which the wireless modem/ router is attached to) and the TV (to which my 360 is connected) to is in the lounge - total distance about 7-8 metres through the bedroom floor/ ceiling and the connection is very good - no drop outs at all.

    Does that help?

Our router is located in the lounge and it's roughly about a good 12-13 metres from my room, going through a couple of walls/ ceiling. And the connection is quite good (a lot of the time 3 green bars, ocassionally dipping to 2 bars for a few seconds before going green again)
That's if i position the aerial horizontally pointing towards the router (i have my console in the horizontal position) where before when i used to place the aerial in the vertical position, i had quite a lot of disconnections and the connection strength was nealy always in the red bar/ 2 amber bars.

        great thanks!

jimtendo, does that mean i should point the aerial on the xbox 360 wireless adaptor to my router as much as possible and have my 360 laying on it's side horizontally for the best connection speed possible?

Also another related question. When using my wire to connect, i allways have trouble connecting for the first time if i haven't been connected to xbox live for a while. I test connection and it allways says that it failed on the DNS, i wait 5 min's then try and connect again and it'll work. Does anyone know why?

        cheers

I don't think it matters too much which position the console is in.
Just make sure the aerial is pointing towards the wireless router as much as possible.

Since i've done that, i've had no problem at all.
Amazing how a little change like that has improved my connection issues.

i've got no idea about your other question though as i haven't tried a wired connection.

              Same with me matey.

I turn the 360 on,then off again, then on,then the tv on and it's connected. Don't even bother having the tv on for the first boot up,it's become routine now.

Glad to hear it happens to someone else though,as i thought i had been fleeced on my adaptor, bought off here

thanks for all your help everyone!

With the DNS problem I might try entering in the DNS numbers on my local area connection instead of the 360 connecting automatically to it. Hopefully when my wireless adaptor comes i won't have these problems.

                cheers all.

I'm going to enter my DNS numbers into the 360's edit settings on the conection, so maybe the 360 knows exactly what to connect to instead of trying to find it itself.(not very knowledgeable about all this just guessing)

If it works i'll reply later.

                  Edit:
Struth! it works fine now, connecting everytime when i load it up.
