Loading custom firmware onto v1.5 PSP... HELP!!

Ok, I want to take the leap and start making use of my dust collecting US Launch PSP that is still running v1.5

How would one go about installing one of these custom firmware's onto it? I've tried reading through forums and faqs and just ended up getting confused, often they talk about downgrading and this that and the other... i'd have though i wouldnt need to downgrade if im already on 1.5?

Somone who could take me though the process would be greatly appreiciated

Nope, you're at 1.5 already so you can skip the downgrading part. If you're installing dark alex's 3.10oe it's just a case of grabbing the download and following his instructions.
