Swap Magic + Dual Layer DVDs

I'm using Swap Magic on a PAL PS2 to play imports and unfortunately GoW 2 is a dual layer disk so it looks like I'm out of luck.

I have heard that by ripping the game to DVDs that will work on Swap Magic I can play it. Can anyone give me any more info?

(or of course a PM if you happened to have a modded PS2 that would play DL disks for sale )

You can actually rip your game, but you need to special tools to do so and a guide to the layout of the data on the disc.
