    NTSC-J/PAL 360 - Owning both

Sorry, had a quick search to see if this had been asked a couple of hundred times... didn't see anything obvious...

Next month I'm aiming to have an NTSC-J 360 and a PAL one. Both are Premium, but one is essentially nothing but the console (the NTSC-J one), the other is the whole shebang, HDD, PSU etc...

In terms of having them both side by side, is it as easy as swapping the Hard Drive over, and PSUs, and then playing, or am I missing something? I obviously have a profile on the PAL Xbox, so I assume I just boot up the NTSC-J one with the PAL 360 HDD in it and that's it? No fiddling with profile retrieval etc...?

Also, in terms of a hot NTSC-J 360 game list, what are the best titles to start with? I'm thinking S R Rev X and Project Slypheed? (spelling... not sure on that one!) Blue Dragon is totally Japanese text isn't it? Anything else wacky and quirky that would never ever be getting a UK release? I notice there's a train simulator (A-Train) - has anyone played this, or know of a decent review site for import 360 games?

i only have three games for my JAP machine, but i'm aiming to get a few more when i get a new job.

i can totally recommend earth defense forces 3. i'd still pick this one over the western one simply for your team mate's voices. never has AI been so enthusiastic about kicking ass. it makes you want to high five them after every fight.

there are some control issues but our lord and saviour paulos g helpfully provided a walk through to changing them in the first play thread.

i have also enjoyed oneechanbara but thats only because i *really* want to enjoy it despite it not being very good.

i also have zegapain XOR but haven't played it yet. i tried the demo and can totally recommend it if you like neon green flying japanese robots (and i do. a lot.)

as for having them side by side, i found it easier to put my profile on to a memory card and swap it between my pal 360 with a hard drive and my japanese core machine. i also bought a uk power supply for ease as well.

we should start a dual console owners club, quite a few people here are getting both

i was considering getting an Jpn 360 but i think several of the games i was after (you mentioned them) S R Rev X and Project Slypheed - are now getting a US/PAL release (as far as i am aware)!

I have both a PAL and a Japanese console and swap the memory card, power/vga/network cables over when changing machines, works pretty well.

IMO, the NTSC-J 360 games worth owning are:

            iDOLM@STER
            Blue Dragon
            Senko no Ronde
            Tenchu Senran
            EDF 3

Own all of 'em and love them to bits

Worth also noting that I speak/read very little Japanese (i.e. just the usual words/phrases used in games/anime) and had no problems with any of these, even Blue Dragon.

Word of warning: Project Sylpheed is 100% Japanese.

Just as a note: I understand that if you download arcade games from Xbox Live, they will associate themselves with the console (not the HDD) which it is downloaded for. If you were to download a game onto your PAL machine and then transfer the HDD over to your Jap machine, you could then only play the game when connected to Xbox Live.

This may be of no significance for you, but it's worth being aware of.
