    ibook g4 advice

looking to get an ibook for mostly web, watching dvd's etc.Only used windows and some linux distros before so this will be my first adventure with an apple mac.

The one i will hopefully be getting is a 1.3ghz with 512mb ram.Since i work away on a fairly regular basis i will hopefully be using this to play footy manager 2007 whilst i am stuck in hotels.Any one know if this machine will play the game smoothly or will a ram upgrade be required.

Any other advice on these machines welcome.

I'd get the RAM upgrade, you should be able to add 1Gb and it will make FM and OS X all the more pleasant to use. Should be a really cheap upgrade to do now as well.

We've got one in the house which my wife uses as her main machine, but I've used it for FM2007 and the sort of stuff you're talking about doing. Its a great machine to have around and you won't be disappointed.

As for Fm2007 the only thing I don't like about it on the laptop is the lack of a mouse, so it might be worth investing in a small mouse for when you're out and about and planning long sessions playing it.

I bought exactly the same model iBook for the other half a while back. Great wee machine but as ascender says the RAM upgrade is a must. Should be easy to a hold of the correct RAM on Ebay.
I don't know what your budget is for buying this laptop but if you look on the Apple refurb store you might find a MacBook for a good price. It's a lot more powerful and easier to lug about than a 14" iBook. Better screen as well.
Don't worry about the refurb bit I've had all but two of the Mac's I've ever owned from there.
