Gamecube led mod

Just bought a couple of 3v 3mm blue leds from maplins and they wont light up on the pal cube i was going to use. I used a multimeter to check what voltage the standard led was using and its only 1.85v.

Most guides suggest 3v leds. I have got a US cube as well , do those leds work at 3v?

Blue LEDs do need a higher voltage than red or green but the blue one I fitted worked fine. It was 5mm to match the original but should make no difference.
You had it round the right way? There should be a flat edge, it's not quite circular on the base and this needs to be matched to the original one fitted.

Just checked and it was 3mm as you said.

yep they light up when i touch them to the battery on the controller port board, looks like they need more juice than the original
