PS3 Blu-ray remote (does it work across regions?)

I'm tempted to pre-order a UK blu-ray remote and spare pad for my JPN machine, but can anybody confirm if the hardware is region locked? Has anybody tried using a US pad/remote on a JPN machine or visa versa?
