    360 Price Drop?

Despite enjoying Sony's console for last-gen, I dont think I'll be able to afford/justify a PS3 until FF13 comes out (whenever that is) so Im looking to pick up an Xbox360. Im going to go for a Premium pack and was wondering if there have been any announced price drops on it as I wouldnt mind waiting until then because 280 is still quite alot of money.

Im sure the premium is 199 now, at least it was not so long ago.

    Or am I totally wrong?

I was wrong, its 199 approx for the Core unit, game and a memory card.

Not too bad, you could buy a Hard drive later on or something

They'll never announce a price drop much in advance.
There's apparently going to be an HDMI model coming out with a 120GB hard drive. That'll almost certainly bring the price down for the current model.

Where from? Ive seen 200 for the Core on some sites but not without a game.

Is it a game of my choice or some random crap?

Would I need a Hard Drive to play a few games online? What is the Hard Drive actually used for?

I wouldn't be surprised if there was a price drop after April, as the rumoured black 360 (HDMI and 120gb) is being launched

But at the moment Play have a good deal on
360 Premium Console with Gears Of War & Crackdown for £290

A few weeks ago a number of sites were selling the Premium at Core price to presumably clear inventory stock for the new SKU (at least those were the working assumptions at the time). There was a thread on it here:

The latest rumours are that the 'Elite' unit will cost $480 so I honestly don't know how that will effect the Premium's price. There will be a price drop at some point this year, but it could be the 'Elite' unit replacing the Premium SKU for the same price, or the Premium falling to Core level.

If I was a betting man, I'd place money on MS making a pricecut announcement at X07 (Septemberish) considering it'd be just before Halo 3 and GTAIV hit.

Or download new game content, demos, trailers, arcade games and in the future (for Europe) films/television. The HD is pretty essential to making full use of the 360.

The Core version is significantly over-priced in comparison to the Premium packages some of which I've seen as low as ?265 (no game). The std. HDD sells for >?65 separately so ?199 for a Core system which also doesn't have the HD cable, wireless controller or the other bits and pieces and, of course, requires a memory card on top has to be considered poor value for money.

Unless you really have an absolutely rigid budget you shouldn't even consider the Core system IMHO. For little more extra than the cost of a game you could buy a Premium system.
