do 720/1080 affect what you see on-screen?

Hi guys, have a questions I hope you can help me with.
Playing Ghost Recon (the original) and in 720 you can't see the right hand side of the hud. However when im using 1280x1024 I can see all of it.

Does anyone else have this problem or is it an issue with my tv?
    I'm using VGA

Well, all TV's crop over Component and HDMI, just how it is. An old archaic throwback to the CRT days.

I know your using VGA, but your TV might handle 1280x720 input as a TV input and apply cropping too.

Cool, can anyone else confirm if they have this problem. I'd hate to think that my 1,800 tv is ****ed.

It's not ****ed, it's probably how it's meant to be.

Big barrel of worms this, the whole overscan thing.

Does it work in 1280x768 or 1360x768? I'd imagine they would not crop.
