    1Gb or 2Gb RAM

To buy or not to buy...

I currently have 1Gb of RAM installed and I have read alot that it is enough for gaming and general use. Is it though? I get a fair bit of stuttering during gaming and I'm concluding that this must be due to a lack of RAM?!

So I guess a good question would be, who is using what amount of RAM and to what effect?

I have 2GB of ram and I couldn't see that making any different when I fitted the 2nd GIG.

I think the games vary slightly on what they want, I remember it being said that battlefield was Ram hungry.

I think we are reaching the point where 2GB is becoming norm, and it's basically a necessity for Vista.

Inparticular the games I find stutter are FEAR online and Oblivion. Two of the more demanding games available, are those the kind of games that would benefit from another gig?

Vista runs fine on my 1 gig system, but if I had some spare cash instead of buying games all the time and found a cheap dual chennel 2gig kit, i'd snap it up.

2GB is starting to be in most games 'recommened' settings. I have Vista on 2 gig and i test it with one and there is a huge difference, especially in the likes of C & C 3. So i would say definately get the 2 gig if you can.

Gaming-wise, 2gigs decreased loading times, even with "old" games like Dawn of War, not to mention less swapping with multiple programs (3dsmax, Painter, Photoshop) open.
