Is my dreamcast dead

Hi

After sitting unused for about 6 months I decided to reset up up my dreamcast (burning desire to play F355 and Daytona) on my new Samsung LCD tv but I seem to have encountered a problem. The dreamcast dashboard seems stable on screen but when ever I play a game the picture seems to turn on and off. I have purchased a new official dreamcast scart cable but am still having the same problem.

Anyone seen anything like this?? Do i need to hit ebay for a new pal machine??

Is the disc whirring? you know like speeding up and down when the picture is going?

no mate the disk seems to be constant, it is very weird it just seems to be a signal loss - for example doing a lap on the oval of daytona the game continues fine but the screen/picture just disappears every 10 seconds or so.

Unfortunately I havent ogt a crt to test it on anymore but up until 6months ago it was working fine on my old 32inch crt.

Are you using a vga lead into your tV? Try it into your monitor and see if it does the same thing. Then at leasst you'll know if it's the tv or the DC.

no mate using the offical dreamcast scart lead. I may try picking up a vga cable and connecting it that way.

Try the cable with another TV - there are some dodgy RGB SCART DC cables out there. I know because I bought a couple myself a few years ago and had similar sounding problems.
