Connecting my PS3 to my TV- Help pls!

    Hi guys,

Ive got a slight problem. I just bought a PS3 and i want to know what the best way is to connect it to my TV and amp.

My TV is HD ready, but only through a DVI input on the back, which is currently being used up by my 360.

So my question is, what is the best way to get the optimum picture quality and sound quality through my TV and Amp.

    Here is the tricky bit...

My TV doesn't have an HDMI input, and my Amp doesnt have optical in. So that rules out a HDMI to DVI cable as i wont get any sound.

Also, is there a box where i can switch between two DVI connections? (just in case this is the only way to connect the console with the best picture quality)

    Many thanks in advance!

How have you been able to connect your 360 through your DVI in?

Presumably a component to DVI or VGA to DVI adaptor.

Can you get component to DVI adaptor? If so, I'd be interested to know where from as I could do with one myself.

His TV might take component through the DVI adapter via a special adapter for his TV, these things can be quite common.

You can use the hdmi and get sound via the normal av cable that comes with the ps3. Just go to audio settings and chose avcable to get sound as well as hdmi video.

Thanks guys, all very much appreciated.

I am connecting my 360 through a microsoft VGA cable with a DVI adapter on it by the way

So, my best option is to connect it through a HDMI-DVI cable and just use the normal leads that came with it to connect to my Hi fi.

                Thanks so much!

                      Ok guys, ive sorted it.

Just thought i would post in here to let you know how i did it incase anyone else has my problem.

Firstly, i bought a DVI splitter, so i could split two DVI sources (in this case, my PS3 and my 360) I then bought a HDMI-DVI cable and connected my PS3 and 360 to the splitter. (using a VGA cable on the 360 with a DVI converter i had lying around from my graphics card)

Then all i had to do was connect my splitter to the TV using a DVI-I - DVI-I cable (having found out that there was no output to the telly from my 360 if i used a DVI-D cable)

I then used the sound outputs from the consoles to connect it to my amp, so i could hear what i was Killing/Kicking/Racing etc.

Thanks for all the help in the thread guys!!
