PS3: Can I install PS2 games on the HDD?

Hi,

I know that HD loader was a godsend for PS2 gamers, who could load their games up onto the disk.

I understand that PS3 can download the PS2 "System Software", where "Hard Drive support is required"

I am looking at 2 PS2 games "Okami" and "Final Fantasy XII"

I have an NTSC-U PS3 on route from the USA.

Can I play these games on the PS3, and if so, can I use my HDD to speed up load times?

Yes NTSC-U I wont' be buying any other PS2 games, just these 2.

No you can't, unless the game specifically has a HDD install option.

Thanks, so the 2 games I am buying (Okami and FFXII, as per my 1st post) don't support HDD.

I did a wiki on the PS2 HDD. I hadn't realised there was a an official jobbie that worked on a few games.

If Sony had allowed the PS3 to work as a "HD Loader" for all PS2 games, that would have been top dollar boss.

I just hate load times... Call me a kid of the cart era, but ever since I got a kempston interface and JetPac on a speccy ROM cart, I've been a big fan of instant loading!
