Gamecube: Jap and Uk power supplys

I have a spare gamecube UK power supply which I might like to use with my japanese gamecube when I take it upstairs to play (rather than taking other PSU plus stepdown convertor upstairs with me each time)

As both produce 12V at the end of the day am I not risking anything in doing this?

What about using a jap PSU with a stepdown convertor on a PAL cube?
