    PS3 TV Connections Nightmare!!

I bought my brother & I's PS3 at launch as he was away for the date, plus i got staff discount. In being the helpful older brother that i am after setting up mine, i set his up and downloaded the system update plus created his online account (for the Casino Royale opportunity). Unfortunately when i plugged in his, i just used the HDMI connector that i used for mine.... you can see where this is going, can't you.
He doesn't have HDMI. He doesn't even have an HD-Ready tv atm. So now of course we've come to realise that although he's turned his ps3 on he can't see the display.... i've tried connecting mine via scart and similarly i can't get a picture whilst it's configured to use HDMI. Also he lives in Belfast, i live in Colchester (posted it at the weekend) so popping back round to my house isn't an option. We've gone through the hilarious method of me trying to instruct him with how many button presses etc etc he should make to get to the relevant Connection options but for all i know his display is stuck on some message that he can't see to answer correctly....
I'm hoping that there's some really really obvious solution, other than taking it round to the house of someone who has an HDMI tv, but i'm not expecting it to work out like that.
    Any ideas?

I think you can reset the display settings by holding down the power button until you hear a couple of beeps

Moving your PLAYSTATION 3 to another television

PLAYSTATION 3 remembers the display settings you give it. If you are moving your PS3 between an SD and an HD TV, you may find you have a blank screen. Simply reset your PLAYSTATION 3 to restore the default SD setting in the following way: turn off the PLAYSTATION 3 system then press and hold the power button for approximately 5 seconds until you hear a beep. You can then use the Settings category in the XMB to configure your Display settings manually.
Apologies but hey after pacing up and down a lot my first choice was to come here rather than google.

Well you can close this thread, but y'know leave it viewable so we can all have a laugh!

/edit: It even says the above in the manual, though he insisted that he had read through the thing back to back in the hour or so he was waiting for me to get home!
